A very unusual spongeware, pottery plaque which could possibly also be a teapot stand. Date: c.1850. This piece is decorated, in brightly coloured enamels, with a central bouquet of flowers and foliage. The border is sponge printed in blue with brown and red lines. This may have been made for use as a teapot stand but there are two holes in the top of the piece so that you can also hang it after use. These were made in the manufacture. It is in excellent condition.
