An unusual shaped copper lid. Originally we thought that this was a mould for moulding an ice plate but I have since seen one as a lid on a casserole which was a typical tagine shape. Even though it is just a lid it is an interesting, decorative shape. It dates from c.1880 and it is nicely engraved with the letters ‘P.G.’ above a number ‘4’. These would be the initials of a previous owner. It is in excellent condition.
