A French copper turbotiere and drainer. There are no manufacturers marks but on the side of the turbotiere there is a cross which has been outlined using a fine, pointed tool. This can be seen in the image. The piece dates from c.1880.  It has ornate brass handles to either end  and it is made from a very heavy gauge of copper with wide, castellated seams around the base and up both ends. The rim of the pan is rolled and there is a small spilt in the copper to one end of the rim. Other than this it is in very good condition. The interior has been re-tinned, in the traditional manner, so that it can be used. Some French turbotieres were designed to take a lid and others were designed to be lidless. This one has never had a lid as the handles on the drainer come up too high for a lid to sit into the pan.
Price includes postage within the U.K.  Shipping to the U.S.A.  add £35. Western Europe  add £15.
Size: The pan is 52cm. (20 1/2") long by 42cm. (16 1/2") wide by 11cm. (4 3/8") high.
The total length, including the handles is 56.5cm. (22 1/4") and the total height is 15.2cm. (6").
