SOLD

A large, 19th century, English copper preserve pan. This piece is marked, to the base, with the orb and cross symbol used by Benhams and to the side is a Birmingham retailers mark but this is difficult to make out. It is also stamped with a number ’18’ on the handles and this relates to the size. It is made from a very heavy gauge of copper, has the typical shape of English brass handles and it dates from c.1860. There is slight pitting to the copper and there are also some tiny dents which are all consistent with use. The pan is 49cm. diameter by 15.5cm. deep and the overall dimensions, including the handles are 60cm. diameter by 21cm. high.
