A dark blue, jasper dip, match box and cover. Marked 'WEDGWOOD ' to the base. This is quite a small, impressed mark and the piece dates from c.1860. The base of the piece is also ridged so that it can be used for stricking the matches which would have been stored in it. It is decorated with three small classical subjects which are divided by anthemions. The lid has various foliate and floral borders. The reliefs are good quality and the jasper dip is a good, rich shade of blue. Both the box and cover are in excellent condition.
