An unusual Wedgwood tea kettle with decoration by Kate Greenaway. This piece is marked, to the base, 'WEDGWOOD'. It is impressed with the letters 'ABI'. This is the date code for the year 1880. There is a further letter 'S', a star shaped impressed mark and a pattern number 'C2082' over '4' hand written in red. The piece is quite lightly potted, in a late creamware body, and there is interesting moulding to the handle, spout and finial. The moulding is highlighted in brown enamel. The Kate Greenaway design, which is outlined in brown and coloured in polychrome, shows children at play. The overall effect is very attractive and the piece is in excellent condition.
