18th Century Candle Box

A late 18th century, oak candle box with mahogany cross banding. Date c.1780. This piece has seen better days as both the back panel and the lid have split, and been put back together. Also, one of the small brass hinges is a replacement. However, the candle box is very characterful. The back panel is an interesting, quite primitive shape and the wood throughout has a lovely patina.
